Frequently asked questions
What is Layerbeat?
Layerbeat is cloud infrastructure built for AI coding agents. It provides full virtual machines that developers can deploy and manage directly or through supported agent integrations.
Can my AI coding agent deploy servers?
Yes. Connect a supported coding agent through Layerbeat’s MCP server, CLI, or API. Scoped credentials and purchase controls help you manage what the agent can do: buying through MCP stays off until you allow it, and every purchase carries a maximum price and an idempotency key.
Can I use Layerbeat without an AI agent?
Yes. You can deploy and manage your cloud machines directly from the Layerbeat dashboard or API.
Is Layerbeat an instant sandbox?
No. Layerbeat provides full virtual machines for development environments, applications, and longer-running workloads. Provisioning takes minutes rather than milliseconds.
How does billing work?
Layerbeat uses prepaid credit for server purchases: servers are prepaid by the month, and you can review the cost before provisioning a machine. Check the billing documentation for supported payment methods and current terms.
Can I control what my agents can access?
Yes. Layerbeat supports scoped API keys and audit logs. Additional spending controls and permissions depend on the currently available integration.
What happens if a purchase fails?
Funds are reserved when you buy and only charged when the server is running. A confirmed failure releases the reservation back to your personal credit. An uncertain result keeps the credit reserved until the order is verified, so a retry cannot buy twice.
